About me
My Story
My childhood had critical building blocks that have shaped my evolution as an adult scholar, an educator, and a lover of learning. Much of that foundation was laid by my physicist father and my chemist mother. Even though my childhood was split between 3 continents, my parents made my education a priority no matter where we went; novels, math and phonics workbooks, and dry erase boards came with us. And when I would ask my father for the meaning of a word he said but I couldn’t recognize, he would tell me to look it up in the dictionary, cultivating my independence in learning.
Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think. –Albert Einstein

My Background
During my freshman year of high school, my conscious awareness of “training the mind to think” began to manifest when my school district hired me as a peer Algebra 1 tutor. I started to think about my mindset and approach that led to my success, motivated to convey that in the way I tutored. Observing my students’ learning styles also impacted how I tutored. I continued to help students throughout my years in high school, university, and beyond, but things took a turn when my love for the brain was revisited after I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in biochemistry at Azusa Pacific University.

My Mission
This rekindled passion led me to become a current master’s student in psychology at Harvard University’s Extension School, where my study and research center on the neuroscience of learning. My neuroscience and psychology education shapes how I teach across the sciences and the humanities, inside the classroom and well beyond it.
In addition to being an academic scholar, I am a performing vocalist, a flutist, and a published writer whose work has appeared in anthologies and on platforms like Huffington Post and Among Worlds Magazine, where I served as the writer-in-residence. That range anchors my mission as an educator: to develop versatile, confident thinkers grounded in the art and science of learning.

My Approach
Now that you know my story, background, and mission in my tutoring and academic mentorship practice, here is what you can expect when we work together:
The process is king.
Whether they’re solving a math problem or analyzing a passage, my students are taught to prioritize applying relevant processes over simply getting the right answer.
Train independent, resilient scholars.
I don't spoon feed my students the answers. I guide them to independently and accurately explain their reasoning from start to finish.
Mistakes are valuable learning opportunities.
This is not an empty platitude. Intentional reflection on the type of mistake made and its cause is paramount to effective learning. Without it, you risk stunting progress.
